The post reads, “Wormhole, an interoperability platform, has successfully completed its efforts to bring World ID to Solana, enabling layer 1 blockchain builders to join the growing number of developers already integrating World ID into their apps and platforms.”
Worldcoin says this latest development will now make it easier for Solana developers to create applications that “put real humans first.”
In late June, Wormhole contributors received a grant from the Worldcoin Foundation, a major backer of the Worldcoin project, which centers around an ambitious plan to grant a World ID to humans who want to prove their “personality” through an eye exam.
The project has received additional attention because Worldcoin’s lead developer, Tools For Humanity, was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
Worldcoin hopes to increase trust on the Internet by giving people a digital identity that proves they are human. This ID will help distinguish between real people and automated agents, such as AI-based chatbots.
“While it was previously technically possible to use World ID on other chains, only Ethereum developers had easy access to verify the uniqueness and humanness of World IDs,” the blog post said Friday. “This groundbreaking development changes that by allowing Solana-based protocols to seamlessly authenticate World IDs for people who were originally verified on Ethereum.”
The WorldCoin project has about 6.6 million registered users, according to its website.
