XYO, a web3 protocol designed to improve the validity, authenticity, and value of data, has released a beta version of its underlying operating system, xyOS.
Founded in 2018, XYO is one of the earliest and largest DePINs globally. The company’s latest innovation, xyOS, integrates advanced data sovereignty technologies and enhanced usability features to make it easier for users to access a decentralized and sovereign Internet experience.
The public release of xyOS represents a pivotal moment for XYO as it gives users from all backgrounds the ability to confidently explore blockchain-based applications. The new operating system also provides users with the tools to take back ownership of their online interactions, which is seen as a paradigm shift toward greater digital autonomy.
“The beta launch of xyOS is an important milestone in our mission to foster a sovereign internet for everyone,” said Arie Trouw, co-founder and CEO of XYO.
Trouw highlighted the contrast between the current risk-prone Web2 environment and the secure, user-centric experience that xyOS promises.
Designed with a familiar graphical interface reminiscent of popular operating systems such as iPhone and Windows PC, xyOS aims to bridge the gap between complex distributed technologies and everyday digital needs. You can now directly access the XYO platform, network, and various decentralized applications (dApps) with just one click or tap.
One of the key features of xyOS is its emphasis on data sovereignty. The operating system ensures that all user data is stored locally, giving users complete control over their information with the ability to modify or delete information at their own discretion. This feature not only simplifies the node setup process within XYO DePIN, but also provides users with real-time insight into network operations.
xyOS includes a core and native dApp suite, including profiles, settings, system state, and name services, along with additional tools such as quick search and OS theming. These features allow users to personalize their digital identities and preferences, facilitate peer-to-peer interactions, and lay the foundation for third-party dApp development.
“With xyOS, users are no longer bound by the limitations of a centralized platform,” said Trouw. They can explore, create, exchange and connect with confidence, knowing that their participation is truly theirs.”
“The future of the Internet is in our hands, and with xyOS, navigating the online world no longer means leaving your data vulnerable or decentralized technologies unknown,” XYO said in a statement.
