More than a year after its release, Yuga Labs’ project Otherside still dominates metaverse land sales.
Otherside is made up of fictional land parcels called “Otherdeeds” and creators called Kodas who reside there. When Otherside first launched on May 1, 2022, it sold out within hours and brought Yuga $317 million in sales. Yuga launched another project, Otherside Expanded, on April 3, 2023 as a companion to the 2D strategy game Otherside: Legends of The Mara.
According to a list of top-selling Metaverse NFTs compiled by The Block Research, the top 10 most expensive Metaverse NFTs this year belonged to Otherdeed for Otherside or Otherdeed Expanded.
The list is sorted in ascending order by the dollar value of the NFT at the time of sale, based on the day’s ETH price according to The Block’s pricing page. Eight of the ten NFTs on this list are owned by avid NFT collector n0b0dy.eth. The other two burned down within months of being sold.
10) Other Certificate #67782 — 182.5 ETH ($276,500)
This NFT was sold for 182.5 ETH, worth $276,500, on February 10th, when the ETH value was around $1,515. This is the only one with the “Molten Melt” and “Mallowrium” traits, along with the rare “Psychosilk” eastern resource, which only 2.8% of other Otherdeed NFTs have.
According to blockchain explorer Etherscan, the NFT owner appears to have sent it to the burn address several months later, on April 6th.
9) Other Certificate #89263 — 186.69 ETH ($289,600)
These NFTs are extremely rare, not only for their specific characteristics but also for the amount of quality they contain. Otherdeed #89263 contains 23 traits, which is only 0.6% of the collection. The NFT also features a 1/1 Enshrined Koda Core and a 1/1 Gentleman Seer Koda Head. It also has a Southern Kinship resource in the collection with a prevalence of 2.7%.
Otherdeed #89263 was sold on January 14th by X2Y2 for 186.69 ETH, or $1,551 per ether on the day of sale.
8) Other Certificate #81764 — 185 ETH ($307,100)
Otherdeed #81764, unique for its jungle environment (3.0% rarity) and southern bonestone resources (2.8%), sold for approximately $307,100 on January 20th at X2Y2 when the ETH value was $1,660. Out of 100,000 Otherdeed NFTs, #81794 ranks as the 191st rarest in the collection, according to X2Y2’s rarity tracker.
7) Other Certificate #54421 — 200 ETH ($334,400)
This NFT is unique due to the Eternal Relic Blade (1/1), Brimstone Eastern Resource (6%), Crystal Environment (6%), and Lumiref Northern Resource (6%). ETH was trading at $1,672 on OpenSea on February 7 when this NFT was sold for 200 ETH.
6 and 5) Other Certificate #2118 — 208 ETH ($361,300)
Same NFT twice? This NFT appears to have been traded twice within 7 hours on March 22nd. And the NFT is very expensive at 208 ETH, earning it a spot in the middle of the top 10 list.
ETH was worth $1,737 on the day of sale. Otherdeed #2118 has a serpentine horn-shaped Koda head (0.3%) and a woodland Koda core (0.2%).
4) Other Certificate #23332 — 200 ETH ($374,200)
Otherdeed #23332 has the Scroll of Prophecy artifact, 1/1 perk, and Sky Environment (5% rarity). The NFT was sold on OpenSea on May 2 for 200 ETH, with an ETH value of $1,871.
3) Other Certificate #7906 — 230 ETH ($390,000)
Otherdeed #7906 contains very rare features including the “Mirror Mirror” artifact (1/1), Adventurer’s Mantle Koda Clothing (0.18%) Soul Wisp Koda Core (0.18%), Dual Time Koda Eye (0.16%), Osilica Weston, and more. There are a lot. Resources (0.26%). thatOn OpenSea, it was worth 230 ETH on February 17th, at which time 1 ETH was worth $1,695.
2) Other Certificate #11260 — 212.56 ETH ($402,200)
This guitar certificate, which includes a 1/1 Gentleman Mentor Koda Head and a 1/1 Gorillatron Koda Core, was sold for 212.56 ETH on April 11 on NFT marketplace Blur, when the ETH was valued at $1,892.
This NFT also appears to have been destroyed when it was burned on July 6th.
1) Other Certificate Extension #5227 — 270 ETH ($514,350)
The most expensive Metaverse NFT in 2023 was Otherdeed Expanded #5227. femalePandora’s Box Artifact (1/1), Lumirev Eastern Resources (3%), and Sulfuric Environment (4%). On May 3, when ETH was worth $1,905, it was worth $514,350 at the time of sale.
