The Zilliqa network has recently experienced several operational outages, which affected block production on the mainnet. However, as of May 10, all network functions were restored, but the cause is still under investigation.
Zilliqa informed the community that the network is now online following a “temporary disruption to block production on the mainnet.” As network functionality is restored, the infrastructure team “continues to monitor the stability of the network while diagnosing the root cause of the recent outage.”
Following initial signs of outage on May 8, when slow block generation speeds were observed, the Zilliqa Network technical team remained active for nearly 48 hours to prevent further outages.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. (UTC) on May 9, the Zilliqa technical team discovery A malfunction that returns a null value “instead of the node’s RLP after an invalid database lookup.”
“The team created an internal rehearsal network to replicate this issue and test bug fixes, allowing us to test possible solutions in an isolated environment before proceeding to testnet and mainnet deployment.”
At approximately 2:30 PM UTC on May 9, the team restored full functionality through a fix with the release of the Zilliqa version 9.3.4 network upgrade. team famous The upgrade will include “several improvements to EVM compatibility,” and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our users and the Zilliqa community.
However, despite the release of fixes and upgrades, further outages in block production occurred again on the Zilliqa mainnet around 7:05 PM UTC on May 9. At this point, the team ramped up the debugging process to better diagnose the problem and address the root cause of the outage.
This is not the first time Zilliqa block production has been halted due to technical issues. In December 2023, daily Zilliqa blockchain transactions fell by about 50%, from about 61,000 to 30,906 due to a “block production outage.”
The Zilliqa team continues to investigate the root cause of the recent network outage and thanks the community for their “patience and support” as they work to resolve the issue.
