Bitfinex announced that in compliance with regulatory requirements, we have decided to remove the availability of our products and services for certain customers in the United Kingdom.
We previously delivered that UK residents who create an account on the Bitfinex platform after November 1, 2023 will no longer be able to apply for personal account verification. This measure will remain in place.
from now on, Bitfinex is no longer accepting certification applications. Enterprise UK residents (except those who meet the following definitions) High net worth companies, unincorporated associations, trusts or other applicable exemptions.
‘High net worth’ is specifically defined under applicable law in the UK. If you are a UK corporate resident applying for confirmation, we may request additional information from you as part of your application to determine whether you meet the applicable eligibility requirements for being a high net worth company, unincorporated association or trust or otherwise. exemption.
Notice of removal of certain services for existing UK customers
From 10 January 2024, some existing UK customers will no longer be able to make new deposits, enter into new contracts or increase existing margin positions. However, they can still reduce or close their positions and withdraw funds from our platform.
Who is affected?
Two types of customers are affected:
- All existing individual customers who are UK residents; and
- All existing business customers who are UK residents and do not qualify for an exemption under the UK Financial Stimulus Order or other applicable UK law. If we understand that you are not exempt, you will be separately notified by Bitfinex that from January 10, 2024, you will no longer be able to make new deposits, create new contracts or increase existing margin positions. However, you can still reduce or liquidate your positions and withdraw funds from our platform.
Who is not affected?
If you are a high net worth company, unincorporated association or trust, or other UK corporate resident that meets the applicable exemption criteria, you will not be affected by these changes.
