London, UK, October 22 – The Ethereum Foundation is pleased to announce the keynote speakers for the Ethereum Annual Conference. DΞVCON1, Nick Szabo. Nick’s keynote will focus on the history of blockchain, smart contracts, and blockchain assets.
Nick is a computer scientist, legal scholar, and cryptographer known for his research on digital contracts and digital currencies. The phrase and concept of “smart contracts” was developed by Szabo with the intention of merging contract law into the programming protocols of the Internet.
Recently, Szabo contrasted Ethereum’s use of smart contracts with the Bitcoin blockchain, saying, “If you want a universal programming environment as flexible as programmers have been using since at least the 1950s, you want: Ethereum uses Turing because it has a complete language and large state. I sometimes compare pocket calculators (Bitcoin) and general-purpose computers (Ethereum).”
“We are very excited to have Nick join us,” said Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin. DΞVCON1. “His pioneering work on smart contracts and the evolution of blockchain technology will add an incredibly valuable perspective to the conference.”
DΞVCON1 will be held at Gibson Hall in London, England from November 9th to 13th. It will feature five days of technical presentations and events covering research and core protocols, decentralized application (dApp) development, and industry and societal impact.
Ethereum A decentralized blockchain protocol that runs smart contracts, applications that run exactly as programmed, without the possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud, or third-party interference.
