Layer-1 blockchain Aptos (APT) announced plans to integrate stablecoin USDC with the payment service of fintech giant Stripe.
Stripe’s payments service will provide a fiat onramp to the Aptos network, according to a new press release from the Layer-1 project.
Circle Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Allaire said the new development is part of the stablecoin company’s efforts to expand USDC.
“USDC + CCTP + Aptos = high-performance, extremely powerful programmable currency infrastructure. I’m excited for the upcoming release!”
Stripe reemerged on the cryptocurrency scene last month when it launched support for USDC payments. The payments giant previously enabled payments using Bitcoin (BTC) until 2018, when the company discontinued support due to BTC’s lack of utility as a payment method.
Aptos’ native token, APT, is trading at $11.98 at the time of this writing. The 27th-largest cryptocurrency asset by market capitalization is down nearly 1% in the past 24 hours, but is up nearly 6.5% in the past week and more than 15.8% in the past month.
Despite the recent rally, APT remains nearly 40% below its all-time high of $19.92 set in January 2023.
