Nearly one -third of the Korean population is said to have invested in Bitcoin (BTC) and other digital assets.
YONHAP, a news agency headquartered in Seoul, cited data announced by the Korean government, reported that at the end of February this year, 13.2 million people opened accounts for Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, KORBIT and GOPAX.
Koreans with accounts on various exchanges are known to have been calculated only once to keep the data accurately. This country has a total population of almost 55 million.
In March 2024, there were 14 million encryption investors in Korea, and in November, Donald Trump won Crypto in November, when the US presidential election was won. Trump prefers the encrypted position in the election of last year’s election.
Industry officials predicted that Korea would soon be the home of 20 million encryption investors.
A civil servant says
“Some people think that the encryption market has reached saturation, but the possibility of growth is still over compared to the mature stock market.”
South Korea’s banks are known to have partnerships with encryption companies as the state’s digital asset regulations have changed less.
In February, the Korea Financial Services Commission announced that in the second half of 2025, 3,500 companies will start a pilot program to purchase encryption for investment and financial purposes. Corporate encryption transactions have been banned in this country since 2017.
