The cloud-focused Web3 altcoin has recently surged ahead of all other cryptocurrency projects in terms of development activity, according to analytics firm Santiment.
st tly Called The Internet Computer (ICP), a public distributed network, leads all other crypto projects, with 466.9 GitHub commits registered in the past 30 days.
The analytics company points out that it doesn’t count routine updates and uses “advanced methodologies” to collect data only on “true” GitHub commits.
Internet Computer aims to add serverless cloud capabilities to the public Internet. The project’s underlying asset, ICP, is trading at $13.45 at the time of this writing and is down nearly 2% over the past 24 hours.
Ethereum (ETH) competitor Cardano (ADA) ranks second in Santiment’s development activity ranking, with 434.3 commits in the last 30 days.
Fellow smart contract platform Polkadot (DOT) and Canary Test Network Kusama (KSM) both tied for third place with 431.33 commits registered, while Ethereum layer 2 scaling project Optimism (OP) ranked fifth with 405.7.
Santiment has previously said that the heavy development activity around cryptocurrency projects is a positive sign that developers believe the protocol will be successful or that the project will release new features soon. It also indicates that the project is less likely to be an exit scam.
