A week ago, the Kiln🧱🔥 testnet underwent a merge transition to evolve from a PoW testnet to a fully functional PoS testnet.

The transition from PoW to PoS at Kiln was trouble-free. Due to an encoding error, Prysm Invalid block generationSome running clients encountered other errors related to synchronization during the transition.
Even though the client is now fully functional and almost production ready, minor software bugs are still popping up here and there. This isn’t a fundamental issue with the core specs and research, but it points to something we’ve been saying for quite some time. This means that security and testing will be the long tail that defines the ultimate Merge release date.
To that end, our client teams, security researchers, and testers are doubling down on testing on all fronts over the next four-plus weeks as we prepare for a public testnet upgrade. These efforts include: hive test, kurtosis testnet build, antithesis Coverage-guided network fuzzing, Goerli and mainnet shadow forking, manual code review, stack-wide fuzzing, enhanced consensus testing, and more!
