Craig Wright has admitted to modifying a Bitcoin white paper document submitted in legal proceedings against COPA.
Alexander Gunning, representing Bitcoin developers, pointed out: correction Wright specifically wrote his documents within “LaTeX files,” which Wright credited. Wright explained that this arrangement was made for demonstration purposes for Shoosmiths’ legal team.
This latest development comes as the trial seeking to determine if Wright is actually Satoshi Nakamoto enters its third week.
Gunning challenged Wright, suggesting that the modifications were for self-service and not for demonstration purposes, stressing that it was an attempt to align the document with the original layout of the Bitcoin whitepaper. According to Gunning, this file was last modified in November 2023.
The cross-examination ended with Gunning directly questioning the validity of Wright’s claim that he was Satoshi Nakamoto, a claim that Wright rejected upon further investigation.
This session concluded a third week of hearings highlighted by testimony from both sides. Computer scientist Marti Malmi testified, disputing the timeline of Wright’s interactions with Nakamoto. Malmi said that contrary to Wright’s claims about the February 2009 approach, the actual communication took place on May 1, 2009, a discrepancy supported by emails later released by X.
