  • ethOS launches dGEN1, a device for Ethereum on-chain dApp interaction.
  • dGEN1 runs on LineageOS with a Nimbus client to eliminate third-party RPC.
  • Pre-orders start at 0.2 ETH via NFT mining and will ship in Q2 2025.

ethOS, the Ethereum-based operating system, has unveiled dGEN1, a pioneering hardware device designed to improve interaction with on-chain decentralized applications (dApps).

Described by ethOS as “the first on-chain everyday carry,” this innovative product is specifically optimized for users participating in Ethereum’s expanding ecosystem.

dGEN1 works with LineageOS versions.

The launch of dGEN1 follows the success of similar blockchain-focused devices such as Solana Mobile Saga and Seeker. However, unlike Solana’s counterparts, dGEN1 does not provide communication features focused solely on Ethereum interactions.

dGEN1 operates on a special version of LineageOS, a popular fork of Android, and enables integration of native Nimbus light clients. This feature allows users to verify data while interacting with a dApp, eliminating the need to rely on potentially untrusted third-party remote procedure calls (RPCs).

The device also includes a built-in browser with support for IPFS and .eth domains, providing seamless access to distributed content.

One of the standout features of dGEN1 is a dedicated screen that provides real-time transaction alerts and metadata during network interaction. This feature aims to improve user experience by allowing users to stay informed about their activities on the Ethereum network.

dGEN1 pre-orders are currently live.

For those interested in acquiring dGEN1, it is currently available for pre-order for 0.2 ETH (approximately $520) via the NFT mining process on a native layer 2 network.

According to the company, launch of the device is expected by the second quarter of 2025, and approximately 630 users currently own the associated NFT.

In addition to the devices, ethOS plans to reward device owners with airdrops once dGEN1 is delivered. Each owner shares the airdrop pool, providing more incentives to early adopters.

With its unique features and design, dGEN1 aims to establish itself as an essential tool for Ethereum enthusiasts who want to use on-chain dApps efficiently.
