The team behind the largest decentralized cryptocurrency exchange (DEX) by trading volume has confirmed the launch of its highly anticipated layer 1 blockchain, Unichain.
Uniswap Labs said in a new blog post that following the successful public testnet phase of the Unichain launch, a public mainnet launch is the next step.
The company stated that Unichain will begin transition to mainnet on January 6, 2025.
“The next major milestone focuses on decentralization, which is at the heart of Unichain. From day one, the mainnet will allow anyone to check chain activity through permissionless error proofing. This process will begin on January 6, 2025, when Unichain Sepolia will conduct planned maintenance to enable permissionless error proofing.
Once the safety and stability of the new system are verified, the mainnet will be opened to everyone! Users can connect their funds directly to the network and applications supporting Unichain will be enabled.
Rollup-Boost will be launched on mainnet shortly after launch, leveraging Flashbots’ TEE-based block builder to enable revert protection and verifiable transaction prioritization.”
According to Uniswap Labs, the launch of the “experimental testnet” will take place after the public mainnet phase ends.
“The first feature on the public experimental testnet will be Flashblock, which reduces the effective block time to 250 milliseconds, making transactions feel instantaneous. The Unichain validation network will also be launched on an experimental testnet and the community will be invited to run test validation nodes.”
