Altair is here. Merge is coming.

Altair Upgrade, October 27
Beacon Chain’s first mainnet upgrade, Altair, has been released. Scheduled for epoch 74240 (October 27, 2021, 10:56:23 AM UTC).
A subtle but huge advantage of Proof of Stake is that you can time your upgrades precisely. (Sorry Tim! Proof of work will be completed soon 😉)
This upgrade provides light client support for core consensus, cleans up the beacon state incentive account, fixes some issues with validator incentives, and strengthens punitive parameters. According to EIP-2982.
A huge thank you to our customer team who worked on this throughout the year 🙌
Stay tuned for another blog post on Monday, October 4th. This includes all mainnet Altair releases.
You can then upgrade your nodes!
Merge of Interop specifications and future development net
that much Interop specification merge It was released on Friday. This “meta specification” provides engineers with a stable target for the initial test and development network.
After a lot of specification activity over the past few months, the merged specification is nearly feature complete and the core logic is stable. In the next step, engineers build merge logic and test the software with other teams on a short-term devnet. Engineers examine current specifications and provide dynamic feedback to the specifications to improve and/or fix issues as they arise.
At the top of the list Merge Engine API Prototype and specify different synchronization versions according to the merge paradigm.
Proof of Stake, a replacement for Proof of Work, has been years in the making, and we’re excited for you to see it in action. October brings a lot of fun 🏺🚀
