The web is a strange place. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably seen someone’s post about how often people think about the Roman Empire. Obviously, the answer is every day. To be honest, I was as surprised as many of the women in the thread where this issue was discussed. Nonetheless, this strange meme has spawned such a huge social media movement that brands are desperate to get in on the action. But I might be a little late to the party, as that trend has long since died out.

Even though the meme is dead, hundreds of thousands of men around the world are thinking about the Roman Empire right now. For those people, we introduce Booming’s Power of Rome slot. Is it historically accurate? Well, probably not. But you just keep thinking about those Romans.

He came, he saw, he conquered

The Power of Rome slot has 5 reels and 20 paylines. The only bonus feature available in the base game is the wild symbol, which replaces all other symbols except the scatter symbol to complete a winning combination. However, the game offers some variations on the standard wild symbols. Standard wilds may appear on the reels, but multiplier wild symbols may also appear. These wilds have a 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multiplier that applies to any winning combination involving the wild.

The free spins feature round of the slot is triggered by three or more scatter symbols. If you trigger the feature with three scatter symbols, you will get 7 free spins. 4 and 5 scatter symbols award 10 and 15 free spins respectively.

Any wilds that land on the reels during the free spins become sticky and follow the rules for the rest of the round. Landing scatter symbols add one extra free spin to your total and a 1x multiplier to all wilds on the reels, with the default multiplier being 1x. The maximum multiplier value for a multiplier wild is 5 times the winnings. The multiplier value applies to all prizes containing the multiplier wild in question. If a single winning combination contains multiple multiplier wilds, the multiplier values are first added together and then applied to the winning amount.

If you don’t want to join Caesar’s army to start a free spins round the old-fashioned way, you can opt to buy a round.

Does Power of Rome slot live up to the legacy of the empire?

Power of Rome slot has medium to high volatility. This means that the gameplay offers small, consistent opportunities for wins, but also periods of no wins while chasing bigger multipliers. The maximum multiplier on the slot is 2,500x your bet, and you can play for up to $250,000 if you bet on a spin limit of $100. The slot has an RTP rating of 95.6%.

I really wanted to like this. The introduction you get when the slot launches is very promising, but it doesn’t actually live up to those expectations. The basic graphics are good, nothing special, but I wish Booming could take it to the next level in the free spins department. And while I enjoyed that they chose to do what I think is the Fall of Rome, the graphics still seem a bit average. That said, there’s really nothing wrong with this. The gameplay is fun and the bonus features are attractive. I wish it was more interesting. Power of Rome slot gets a 7 out of 10.

If you’re looking for a few other Booming slots to try, try Space Cows to Moo’n and Gold Hunter.
