OneSolana (SOL)-based altcoin project is soaring after making an important announcement.
Decentralized Wireless Network Project Helium (HNT) presentation A new affordable cell phone plan with the network was launched on Tuesday, available within the United States.
Called helium Mobile,
“Here you are. A nationwide $20/month unlimited phone plan is now available! The average American spends $157 a month on their cell phone plan, but starting today, anyone in the U.S. can sign up for Helium Mobile and say goodbye to those expensive plans.”
HNT surged more than 75%, from Tuesday’s low of $2.74 to Wednesday’s high of $4.71. HNT has since declined and is trading at $4.16 at the time of this writing.
Helium Mobile launched its service earlier this year exclusively in the Miami area.
Helium Mobile said at the time:
“We plan to launch in a single city to continue expanding our unique coverage model that combines our partners’ nationwide 5G networks with our human-built open source Helium mobile network.”
Helium says its service is cheaper than traditional carriers because its model leverages privately owned infrastructure that can earn MOBILE tokens for data sharing. The company has also partnered with telecom giant T-Mobile to provide subscribers with access to the country’s largest 5G network.
